Quick-Sip: 2006 Soléna Willakia Pinot Noir - super fruity single vineyard

Soléna Pinot Noir Willakia Vineyard (2006)
Soléna Estate
Pinot Noir
Eola-Amity Hills AVA, OR
Our fifth Soléna wine, fourth Pinot Noir tasted at the Grand Cru tasting room.

Appearance: Clear, cranberry red, medium intensity

Nose: Clean, candied red fruit, soft cherry and ripe strawberry, light smokiness

Palate: Dry, medium tannins that are round but lingering, medium acidity, fruity, red fruit, raspberry, strawberry, cherry, licorice, soft spice, medium to long finish
Similar to the Vista Hills Pinot, this is another single vineyard wine with just under 100 cases produced. Select harvest which is tightly controlled makes a big difference from larger generalized selection. A strong vintage in 2006 there's a ton of bold fruit showing in the glass. The wine specs indicate that cold maceration is responsible for the intense cranberry color.

Cheers!
