Quick-Sip: 2006 Soléna Vista Hills Pinot Noir - premium vintage, single vineyard

Soléna Pinot Noir - Vista Hills Vineyard (2006)
Soléna Estate
Pinot Noir
Dundee Hills AVA
The fourth wine tasted at Soléna's Grand Cru tasting room. Moving to the 2006 vintage we start with another single vineyard Pinot.

Appearance: Pale, garnet to soft brown/clear rim

Nose: Upper aromas of cedar, mulch, deeper notes of ripe raspberry and red fruit, light licorice

Palate: Dry, medium-low acidity, medium body, very smooth, ripe red fruit, strawberry, ripe black cherry, medium finish
This wine had many wood-driven characteristics, and was much richer than the 2007 examples tasted. It's well situated to taste this after the 2007 wines - while those were good examples on their own, this bottle showed a nice balance between fruit and terroir. Soléna's wine information page describes the earthiness and and dark fruits as being typical of the Dundee Hills AVA. Check back tomorrow for another 2006 single vineyard Pinot from the Eola-Amity Hills AVA.

Cheers!
