Quick-Sip: Value California SB

Rootstock Sauvignon Blanc (2007)
DnA Vineyards
Sauvignon Blanc
Lake County, California

Appearance: Clear, pale, with a green tinted yellow color.
Nose: Youthful, clean, medium intensity (not slapping me in the face). Aromas of herb, citrus pith, cabbage, lemon, grapefruit, peas, mustard seed, dill, and green vegetal.

Palate: Dry with medium acidity, alcohol, and intensity. Slightly higher than medium bodied - has a bit of weight to it. Flavors of fresh herbs, citrus, green apple, asparagus, floral, and a slightly bitter finish - again with the pithiness.
Not overwhelming, but this is a decent value Sauvignon Blanc for $7.50 (Trader Joe's). Unfortunately there's no information on the web it seems for anything else the winery produces - though they've got a cool logo. Had kind of a funky nose - what is described in WSET as "tinned vegetables" I believe. It was refreshing though, and the funk didn't translate on the palate. Could easily pair with food (think citrus components, things with fresh herbs, or fats that the acidity can cleanse) or drunk on it's own.

Cheers!
